Dr. Katherine Jackson joined the
Dr. Jackson is the author of numerous articles as well as a finance textbook that incorporates collaborative learning techniques. She has given numerous presentations about how to use collaborative learning in business education. She has also given workshops on financial analysis to non-financial executives at several major mid-west corporations. She was previously a member of the board of directors of the Economics Club of Michiana and the Financial Executives’ Institute. Her research interests include index investing and exchange traded funds. Dr. Jackson is a member of the Midwest Finance Association the Eastern Finance Association.
Ms. Dowell attended Pensacola Junior College and Hannibal LaGrange College. This is her 10th year at the University. Her favorite part of working at Truman is being able to work with a wonderful group of administrators, faculty and staff - all of whom truly care for the students. She enjoys watching the students learn, thrive and grow into successful, responsible and ethical young adults.
Tasha Peel, a
Ms. Marilyn Romine, Academic Advisor, received her B.A. at the University of Iowa and the M.A. at Truman State University. She has been at Truman for 16 years, formerly having taught business classes. Her hobbies include reading, walking, and watching classic movies. Her husband Jeff, recently retired as a Professor of Accounting in the School of Business. Her son Brian, is married to Anne Leicht, both Truman graduates, and lives and works in St. Louis, MO. Her daughter Amanda, graduated from Truman in May, 2005 with a B.A. in Business, Marketing emphasis and is currently employed by the Career Development Center at Northern Kentucky University.
Dr. Nabil Alghalith received his B.S. degree from Northeast Missouri State University, his M.B.A. from Saint Louis University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri - Rolla. He has been at Truman since 1988. His teaching and research interests are in the area of Management Information Systems. Outside of work, he enjoys playing and watching soccer.
Dr. Stephen Allen, Professor of Business Administration, completed his undergraduate electrical engineering degree in 1978 at the University of Missouri-Rolla graduating Cum Laude. He then worked eight years both domestically and internationally for Schlumberger Ltd. In 1986 he returned to the University of Missouri-Rolla to earn a Ph.D. in Engineering Management with an emphasis on operations management and quality control. He completed the Ph.D. in 1989. He has been teaching production and operations management, information systems, project management, and survey of business classes at Truman since 1989. He has authored seven refereed journal articles, eighteen refereed proceedings articles, two books, edited two conference proceedings, and has co-authored two major grant applications. Two of the proceedings articles won best paper of the conference award. While at Truman he has three times been nominated by students for the Truman Educator-of-the-Year award. Since 1978, he has lived in and/or visited the following countries: Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Dubai, England, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Khafji, Mexico, the Netherlands, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Wales, and the former West Germany.
Dr. Michael Blum, Professor of Business Administration, obtained his bachelors degree at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. Dr. Blum's graduate studies led to a Masters in Industrial Relations from Iowa State University and Ph.D. in Business Administration from The University of Missouri-Columbia. He teaches management courses, predominantly human resources management, labor management relations and organizational behavior. Dr. Blum has conducted research in the areas of conflict resolution, job search behaviors and others. He and his wife Julie have four children. Much of his time away from work is spent with family members attending a local church, in physical activities at the YMCA and in coaching his children's athletic teams.
Mr. Charles Boughton, Instructor, B.S. Business Administration University of Colorado (1980), M.A. Sociology University of Colorado (1984), M.S. Accounting Truman (Northeast Missouri State)(1986), additional graduate work: Truman State and Drury Universities. This is his second tour at Truman; this Fall begins the 6th year. "When I left Truman the first time, it was to go to work full-time for my favorite consulting client. The reason I came back to Truman was to teach. I love the interaction with students and the challenge of staying current with courses in which the topics are always changing. Interaction with students is my favorite aspect of my job." He and his wife Debi have two daughters and one son. His hobby is anything with an internal combustion engine attached: boats, airplanes, Harleys and Corvettes in particular.
Dr. Debra (Debi) Cartwright, Associate Professor of Business Administration, earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology from New Mexico State University; a master's degree in Business Administration (Marketing and Management) from York University in Toronto, Ontario; and the Ph.D. in Business Administration (Strategic Management with a minor in Marketing) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Between degrees she worked a total of 10 years in industry and has experience in the areas of retail, human resources, internal marketing, entertainment management, event planning and sales. She joined the Truman faculty in 1988 and normally teaches Brand Management and Strategic Marketing, Strategic Management, and Principles of Marketing. Her research interests include strategic responses to external environmental pressures, competitive business strategies, assessment of student learning, brand management and services marketing. She has an adult son and a pet maltepoo.
Dr. Castillo received his Ph.D. in International Business from The University of Texas - Pan American in
Professor Damron-Martinez earned her Ph.D. in Business Administration/Marketing from New Mexico State University in 2000, her M.A. in Economics in 1994, also at NMSU, and her M.B.A. in 1991. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Martinez worked both internationally and in the U.S. in marketing for over 12 years. Dr. Martinez teaches marketing, marketing research, sales, and retail management; her classes are active in service-learning projects, working with the Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center and the Adair County SB40 Developmental Disabilities Board, among other clients. Dr. Martinez is a two-time recipient of the Golden Apple award for teaching, and was a 2008-2009 finalist for Educator of the Year. Research interests include pricing issues, sales management concerns, product placement, and pedagogical issues in marketing. Recent research was published in the International Journal of Integrated Marketing Communications and Journal of Sports Administration and Supervision.
Dr. Paul Fellows, Associate Professor, obtained his B.S. at the University of Michigan, and his M.A.S. and Ph.D. at the University of Illinois. He has been a professor at Truman since 1991
Dr. Neil Gilchrist, Professor, Business Administration. Dr. Gilchrist obtained a B.S. in Psychology from Brigham Young University, an M.B.A. from Idaho State University, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration (Strategic Management and Business Policy) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has been teaching at Truman since 1984. He teaches primarily Strategic Management, Business Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. Before coming to academia, he was a produce manager in the grocery business and a pharmaceutical sales rep (detail man). He is married (Dr. Lou Ann Gilchrist, Dean of Student Affairs) with two adult sons and two grandsons.
Dr. Bryce Jones, Professor of Business Administration, obtained his B.A. from the University of Kansas, his J.D. and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin; he is also a member of the Missouri Bar Association. He has been at Truman since 1977 and teaches Legal Environment of Business, Commercial Law, CPA Review, and occasionally Ethics. His hobbies include computers, old radio shows, and sports. His wife teaches reading at Ray Miller Elementary School. His daughter, Carolyn has her Ph.D. and is a professional chemist. He has two sons: Gregory is in the physics graduate program and Bryce III, is an undergraduate at MU. His research interests include antitrust and commercial law.
Dr. Jason (Jia-Yuan) Lin, Professor of Business Administration, received his Ph.D. in Economics and did his post-doctoral study in finance at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.
He has been at Truman for 22 years and teaches Seminar in Finance and Principles of Finance. He is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who in Business Education, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who Among Asian Americans, and The Outstanding Young Men of America.
He has articles published in the Journal of the Academy of Finance, Regional Business Review, The Journal of Global Business Issues, ASBBS E-Journal, etc. Three of the journal articles won best-paper-of-the-conference awards.
He is in charge of the study-abroad program, ‘Europe in transition’ sponsored by School of Business and Center for International Education. His hobbies include golf, basketball, music, and movies.
His wife is Dr. Jane Sung, Professor of Economics. His son, Kirk is a senior with biology and finance double majors at Washington University in St. Louis. His daughter, Grace is a sophomore in biomedical engineering at Mizzou.
Dr. Lin's research interests include stock valuation, international financial markets, CEO compensation, stock market correlation, post-SOX financial reporting, and portfolio management.
Dr. Kyung-Chun (Andrew) Mun, Professor of Business Administration, earned his Ph.D. in Finance from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He has been teaching finance classes including Investments, Corporate Finance, Derivatives & Risk Management, and Principles of Finance at Truman State University since 1991. He is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America, Who's Who Among America's Teachers, and Who's Who in Business Higher Education. His research interests include international finance and investment, behavioral finance, efficiency and microstructure of stock and derivative markets, and the use of derivatives by financial institutions. He has articles recently published in the Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Global Finance Journal, Quarterly Journal of Business and Economics, among others. He performed as an ad-hoc referee for a number of journals including Financial Review, Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, International Review of Economics & Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, etc.
Ms. Cathy Poyner is a CPA and received her M.S. in Accounting. She has been at Truman for 15 years and teaches COBOL, Systems Analysis and Design, and Information Technology. Her hobbies include crossword puzzles and crocheting. She has a husband, Barry Poyner, and two children, Cole and Bethany. Her research interests include website analysis, groupware, security and employee monitoring.
Dr. Adrien Presley, Associate Professor, received his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering. He has been at Truman since 1997 and teaches Production Operations Management and Database Management Systems. His hobbies include reading and tennis. He has a wife Theresa, and four children, Janette, Nick, Genevieve, and Evangeline. His research interests include environmental production management, information systems adoption, privacy and security, and supply chain cost.
Dr. Lin Zhang, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, received her B.A. in English and B.S. in International Business at Dalian University of Technology (China), M.S. in Management at University of Bath (U.K.), and Ph.D. in Marketing at Mississippi State University. She joined the Truman Faculty in 2005 and teaches Principles of Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Marketing Research, and International Business. Her research interests include brand management, international advertising, and unhealthy consumer behavior. She is married and has a baby son.
