Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science Degrees (Business Administration)

A degree in business administration emphasizes the development of skills which are required for the 21st century workplace – strong ability in oral and written communication, teamwork, and analytic acumen.  Complementing the program in business is a curriculum rooted in the liberal arts.  Courses in communications, mathematics, science, humanities, and social sciences constitute over half of the required academic work for the degrees.  Students are required to study a foreign language. Language proficiency enhances the potential for success in an increasingly global business community.  Literature and history courses can be chosen to enhance studies in culture and language.

Marketing Concentration

Marketing is concerned with acquisition and retention of customers for products and services by delivering customer value. The marketing program teaches systematic ways by which to identify and understand consumers so that it is possible to define and create needs and to cater effectively and efficiently to a clientele.  You’ll learn that, no matter what its size, a firm must constantly track consumers, monitor the economic and sales environment, and keep an eye on the competition.

The Marketing Club is the student chapter of the American Marketing Association, a national professional organization which has members in both industry and academia.  The club provides an opportunity for students of marketing and other disciplines to explore their interests in this profession. Members broaden their knowledge of marketing through contact with professional speakers and use of opportunities for networking.  They learn the practical application of classroom knowledge and skills through participation in club committees and work on projects.  The Marketing Club furthers the professional development of students through leadership training and personal involvement in the field of marketing.
