The Winning Edge -- Extracurriculars

Interviewers will want concrete examples of when you exhibited leadership to make an organization truly better, of when you showed entrepreneurship to change the status quo, of how you used logic to get out of a tough jam, and of when you showed communication and group skills in working with others.

So make the effort and get involved in something you think you'll enjoy and be good at. It can be anything from student government to a meaningful club membership. And, if you get involved in numerous groups and keep your grades up, you will strongly demonstrate your organizational skills. It's up to you how to do it. Just get involved!

From Making College Count:  A Real World Look at How to Succeed In and After College, by Patrick S. O'Brien.

The School of Busines at Truman State University recommends to students these organizations and clubs that provide opportunities to learn and exhibit leadership skills, valuable experiences in their chosen professions, and the opportunity to be involved and interact with students of similar interests.
