Leaders motivate themselves and others to achieve goals. In order to motivate others, one needs to be able to understand people and to communicate effectively with them. The liberal studies program provides one with an opportunity to understand oneself and other people better and to improve one’s communication skills.
Business and accounting majors should take liberal studies coursework in the following areas during their first and second years, except as noted:
Managers improve the effectiveness and efficiency of organizations. In order to be effective, managers need knowledge and skills in a variety of business disciplines. The business core provides one with a broad-base of foundational management knowledge and skills one can use to improve organizational effectiveness.

The accounting degree and business administration concentrations prepare students for employment in a variety of areas. The accounting degree also prepares students for the Master of Accountancy program. We encourage students to plan to participate in study abroad, internship, and student organization activities.
In order to graduate, all degrees require a minimum 2.25 GPA overall, in the major, and in the concentration where applicable. A minimum of 124 hours is required to graduate.
